Lecture de poésie par Michael Heller

La bibliothèque Ulm-LSH a le plaisir d'accueillir mardi 30 mai le poète américain Michael Heller autour d'une lecture de ses poèmes. Cette rencontre a lieu dans le cadre du séminaire de poésie américaine, animé par Hélène Aji (Professeur de littérature américaine à l'ENS).

Biographie


Michael Heller is an American poet, essayist and critic. He has published over twenty-five volumes of poetry, essays, memoir and fiction.

His most recent books are Within The Inscribed: Selected Prose and Conversations (Shearsman Books, 2021), Telescope: Selected Poems (New York Review Books, 2019), Dianoia (2016, Nightboat Books) and, a selected poems in French, Dans le signe (Editions Grèges, 2016).   

Other works include This Constellation Is A Name: Collected Poems 1965-2010, Beckmann Variations & other poems and Uncertain Poetries: Essays on Poets, Poetry and Poetics.  Multimedia collaborations with the composer Ellen Fishman Johnson include the musical/theater works Constellations of Waking a work based on the life of Walter Benjamin, and This Art Burning.  His libretto/poem for Constellations of Waking was published in 2019.  His work has been translated and published in eight languages.

Among his many awards and honors are the Alice Fay Di Castagnola Prize of the Poetry Society of America, two New York Foundation on the Arts Fellowships, the National Endowment for the Humanities Poet/Scholar Award and the Fund for Poetry.  A collection of essays on his work, The Poetry and Poetics of Michael Heller: Nomad Memory, was published in 2015 by Fairleigh Dickinson University Press.
