PSL choir and orchestra

Like major Anglo-Saxon universities, PSL Research University has its own orchestra and choir, open to all PSL students, professors and members of staff. They currently comprise around 130 members.

Unifying and attractive, this ensemble brings together members of the following institutions: École normale supérieure, Collège de France, Chimie ParisTech, École supérieure de physique et chimie industrielle, Université Paris-Dauphine, Observatoire de Paris, Institut Curie, Mines ParisTech, CNRS, Inserm, Inria, Conservatoire national supérieur de musique et de danse de Paris, École nationale supérieure des beaux-arts, Conservatoire national supérieur d'art dramatique, École nationale supérieure des arts décoratifs, La Fémis, École nationale des Chartes, École des hautes études en sciences sociales, École pratique des hautes études, École française d’Extrême-Orient, Lycée Henri IV, Institut Louis Bachelier, Fondation Pierre-Gilles de Gennes pour la recherche, Institut Pasteur and IBPC-Fondation Rothschild.

PSL Symphonic orchestra, manly composed of PSL students, professors and members of staff, also comprises professional musicians. While Johan Farjot, conductor and choirmaster, conducts the orchestra, technical supervision of the 70 musicians is led by high-level professionals throughout the year. In particular, these professionals are in charge of preparing the members of the Symphonic orchestra to the wide variety of the proposed repertoire.

PSL Choir is composed of around sixty non-professional choristers, most of them being PSL students. The Choir regularly takes part to the concerts given by PSL Symphonic orchestra, through they organise their own choral music concerts, with a smaller musical accompaniment. Johan Farjot, conductor and choirmaster, also conducts the choir, assisted by Julien Rezak, piano accompanist and vocal coach.
